Open bus route from ferry to Cat Ba island

Cat Ba opens bus route 14 from Cai Vieng wharf to the town center, making travel more convenient and limiting congestion.

Cat Ba District People's Committee said bus route 14 started operating on April 15 according to the route from Cai Vieng ferry station - Phu Long commune - Hien Hao commune - Xuan Dam commune - Ang Soi junction - Cat Ba town. Ticket price is 13,000 VND one way, 250,000 VND per month, free for children under 6 years old. There are 40 flights per day, including departure and return.

Hoang Trung Cuong, Vice Chairman of Cat Hai District People's Committee, said the new bus route will reduce congestion for the Got - Cai Vieng ferry. "Congestion is due to the large number of vehicles crossing the ferry. If people and tourists use the bus or walk across the ferry, it will be more open," said Mr. Cuong.

In 2022, Cat Ba welcomes more than 2.3 million tourists, in which on the occasion of April 30 and summer, Got - Cai Vieng ferry station is constantly congested, personal cars and passenger cars wait for the ferry for hours, queue for 3-4 hours.

If going from Hai Phong city, people and tourists can take bus 16C to Got ferry station, transfer to the ferry to board bus 14 to go straight to the center of Cat Ba island. The bus management unit has coordinated with the ferry terminal management board to build a time frame for route 16C to arrive on time for the ferry to run, bus number 14 to pick up passengers on time for the ferry to arrive and vice versa, so that passengers don't have to wait long. Currently, route 16C has a frequency of 48 flights a day.

According to the leader of the Cat Hai District People's Committee, the bus route will create a new low-cost transportation model that will also help stimulate tourism demand for Cat Ba Island.
